Cecilia Rivera
“Cecilia Rivera ́s paintings are characterized by her expressive use of color, the energy and beauty seized by a broad application of paint, and obviously personal interpretations of a romantic aesthetic and vision of the world.
The revelation contained in her art consists of an act of emotional discovery. Her paintings present a private glance into a world of euphoric color made meaningful by the artist ́s commend of the act of abstraction and its ability to seize the fleeting and the transitory.”
Carol Damian, Director The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum, Miami, Florida
“Cecilia Rivera’s vision unites, almost by law, the cosmic with the intimate, since her roots are spiritual. The great bearers of interior vision have been mystics of all kinds who have lifted, for the common people, the veils of a divine communion. In our time, the inner vision is not an exclusively religious matter; in the fields of art it refers,
preferably, to identity. And in Mexican painting it is surely in the territory of feminine identity where the inner vision has penetrated more deeply, in painters like Lilia Carrillo or Irma Palacios. The work of Cecilia Rivera, in this context, gives us a remarkable fight of the veils, a difficult task that consists of penetrating the soul putting into play the meeting of internal forces, whose accuracy is gestated precisely in its expression on the canvas.”
